Every once in awhile I’ll get inspired by someone for one of my characters. Case in point – Gunnar the dwarf is inspired more than a little by my friend Brad (and his portrayal of a RPG character). This time around the Giant King is no other than my Best Friend Ian…. who is at times a music teacher and track coach. I just hope I do him justice.
If you are in the K-W area and are thinking of competing in track throws (shot put, discus, javelin & hammer throw) visit the “Waterloo Athletics Club” and “Coach Morton” – there you go Coach… a nice plug for you…
Here are a few of my watercolour sketches I did while on vacation. It was very relaxing and I’m determined to one day own a home up there.
Raflar the Wanderer
I have the Robin-in-the-Hood Festival this weekend so the comic MAY be delayed. I will try to get it up Friday evening.. but if not, then it will be Sunday.
Raflar.
Thanks for all the messages about the blog images not appearing. I switched the folder naming system (you may note the URL is now “comic.raflar.com”) and this is why the images are not showing up. I will look into a quick fix if I can.. if not, I may have to manually bring them back one by one…
pray I find the solution. ![]()
FOUND IT… all is well in the land of Raflar…. remember kids – the new URL is now http://comics.raflar.com
Ancient Kingdoms – Oil Painting Map Phase 2
By Raflar on April 13th, 2010Posted In: Ancient Kingdoms
Here’s the progress so far… all the ‘base coat’ of the land and oceans are done. I started working on the southern regions (islands on the bottom right & peninsula on bottom left) with the rougher cut coastlines, rivers and highlighting the landscape more. Really excited to see how this one turns out…
Thought I’d post a few of the sketches I did while I was up north. I love getting away from “civilization” as nature really inspires me to do more artwork. These are just out of my head. I’m working on a series of paintings for my fantasy world to go in an art show sometime in the future, which is what I was thinking about when I did these.
